I don't have any pictures immediately to hand but you'll find plenty in the build logs. Most people are using inductive proximity sensors these days, arranged so that the part being detected passes across them rather than directly towards them with the potential for a damaging crash.
KitAn optimist says the glass is half full, a pessimist says the glass is half empty, an engineer says you're using the wrong sized glass.
