I rencetly had a job where I had to machine successive numbers into aluminium/HDPE signs for the local coastguard, 1-26. Now, I just set to and made a template file and then successively made new files from it "coastguard1, coastguard 2" etc with the numbers changing as I went. It worked well but I couldn't help feeling there would have been a better, more automatic way of doing things, maybe by using a recurring subroutine in the code itself. Can a Gcode file load another Gcode file into a subroutine as I think that is the way I could have done it?
As it turned out, I couldn't have actually done the above in reality as the signs were all slightly different in size requiring zeroing to a corner for each one (no big deal with a laser cross). But I was just curious how it would be done in the real world.
