  1. Can anyone recommend a spiral bit for pocketing and profiling hardwood at depths of up to 60mm? I’ve been using a straight bit which is ok but not that happy with the results which need a bit of sanding. I think a spiral bit would do a better job at reducing chatter but struggling to find an (affordable) bit at this length which will fit my er20 collet. Also when profiling at this depth the channels get clogged up with chips even with the vacuum on!

  2. Has anyone bought carbide bits from Rennie Tools in Manchester?

yes. cant complain at their price. i bought two of their 3mm down cutters for 3mm abs sheet. probably done a couple of thousand meters full diameter full depth cuts, and its sharp as ever. havent used the second one yet.

I've got some of their tapered spiral carbide bits and they are excellent. I've cut lots of 3D stuff with them both in wood and aluminum.
-use common sense, if you lack it, there is no software to help that.

This was what I was looking at - 10mm sounds king of narrow though for a 63mm cutting length?! Shame they don’t have any 12mm at that length.

I've just bought a couple of their carbide downcut 2mm and 1mm endmills. Giving a very nice finish.

    How about one of these
https://www.rennietool.co.uk/collect...ra-long-series. It will cut wood fine. Might have to cut the coal down a bit
