Thread: Hi All

    Hi all,

I'm a newbe on this community.

I have a 12year+ old Step4 router, not brilliant but ok for balsa, ply without knots. Fitted a cheepo 240v router, will cut any ply, plastics now. The weight and offset of the spindle from the yaxis guides makes it abit wobbley. It's in semi retirement at the moment, shall make new spindle using air grinder innerds driven by a belted Brushless 400w motor and set guides one above the other.

2 weeks ago I got an X1 mill from Arc-Euro with DIYCNC.co.uk lecy bits up and running so now I can make parts for Step4.

    Software is:-

DoubleCad XT free! only 2D but a good cheap start.

Cut2d - Wonderfully straight forwards. One weekend I tried 3 different CAM sample programs, the next Thurs I used them again and found Cut2D was the only one I could use without cursing.

Mach 3 - Another good Prog.

    CNCly

  2. Welcome Chris... I moved your intro into a new thread of your own rather than hijacking Airwolfs!
