    Hi Everyone,

Been thinking about CNC for a while - a long while - first programmed a machine in the late 80's.

The cost of (DIY) machines has finally dropped below my disposable income threshold so I've combed the internet and this forum in particular for information and have decided to start by converting my Clarkes Lathe / Mill combo.

I know - silk purse / sows ear does spring to mind but it's an easy first step and should give me a machine that can be used to make something a bit more interesting.

    Sounds good, Mark,

The smaller machines have plenty going for them. I'm a user of a mini-lathe, and for the stuff I do it's just about perfect (after some fettling).

Are you going to be designing as you go along, or plan to get a design ready before you start?
