For sale is a Denford Orac lathe that has been converted to LinuxCNC. It was a lockdown hobby to keep me occupied. My other lockdown hobby has resulted in a baby so unfortunately I don't have the time or space to finish and use it.

Mechanically the lathe is in great condition, showing little sign or wear or corrosion. Linux is running on a small PC with a Mesa 7i96 board. Both axes are working through linux. All PSU's are working. An encoder is installed and is displaying the spindle RPM on the screen. The E-Stop works through linux and the power switch covers the whole system. VFD is installed and turns the spindle - albeit RPM control is on the VFD panel.

Left to do is connect the PWM-Analogue control board (included) to the VFD to allow Spindle RPM control through linux. The limit switches also need to be connected to the board (original wiring ready to go). It takes me ages to update the HAL and INI files in LinuxCNC as it's my first project but for someone with prior experience there is really not much left to do. I would possibly upgrade the VFD as well as it's just a cheapy from ebay and could probably do with a higher end one installing.

Included with the sale is a small selection of tooling, some centre steadies and some collets. I'm looking for £1,200. Collection from Dorchester, Dorset. Any questions please let me know.

    Hi all,

Lathe still available. I'm not very knowledgeable with these things so am struggling to put a price on it. It's priced around what I paid for it and what I've spent on parts. Would accept £900 or would possibly consider a swap for a manual lathe if anyone was interested.

    Cheers

I don't need another cnc lathe but I'd suggest you pop it on ebay to get the best price.
