Hi there, my name is George.
I retired about 4 years ago. Built and flew my own airplane and along the way got interested in CNC building of airplane parts. I built my own CNC setup about 2 years ago and now am making a line of parts for Experimental Aircraft builders all over the world.

You can see the kind of stuff I am building at: http://www.mrrace.com/Products/ There is also a lot more information about me at: http://www.mrrace.com

I am using AutoCAD, CamBam, and Mach3 to draw and control the machine. I have recently written a "SimpleMill" screen set for Mach3 that only has two screens and is 3 axis only. It really makes my kind of milling very easy.

You can see the screens and download a copy at: http://www.mrrace.com/SimpleMill/

I enjoy taking part in forum's and look forward to interacting with others here.

    Hi George,

Welcome. Interesting stuff on 'mrrace.com', although couldn't get 'mykitairplane' link to work. As you can see from my Avatar I am also a plane designer and builder (as a hobby, when time permits), although on a much smaller scale! This one is a 1.9m span radio controlled electric model. I also use AutoCAD, but bought Vectric Cut2d for cutting (after briefly using CAMBAM) and would recommend it for doing straightforward 2D work. I also use Mach3.
    Building a CNC machine to make a better one since 2010 . . .

  3. Where in Michigan? You a UP'er or a Troll? I grew up in Saginaw. Still got family in Michigan. I am looking at the option of upgrading to Inventor LT and see how it goes. That or Solid WOrks but the price tags get a bit steep. I build and repair musical Instruments (free reed family) and use BobCAD and Mach 3 for G-code and control.

    Hi Michael:

I am a Troll! I live near Albion, which is between Jackson and Battle Creek, right along Interstate 94.

  5. George,

I have friends who live in Hudson. Most likely not far from you. that area has gotten hit pretty hard by the down turn. Hope you are doing well and keep doing so.

    Michael (I fellow Troll).
