I am trying to build my homemade CNC. I have 2 SD2 and 2 SD3 cards with a T-119 transformer. Trying to wire the drives.

Anyone who has gone through this without a motherboard, feel free to post.

I hope to make aircraft parts when I'm finished.

  2. Hi and welcome to the site. Interesting challenge..

SD2 and SD3 cards (ex Orac) are usually plugged into an SD or SDC motherboard, I guess you are trying to wire them without, directly to the 32way connector? You probably already know that the SD cards are 12v signalling and 24v operating supply (36v motor supply) not 5v logic as most modern drives are. You'll need level shifters to work with a standard breakout board, which isnt hard to do if you have some electronics understanding. If you need more help, start a build thread rather than clutter this intro further.

Irving, is there anything you *dont* know?
-- if you can't be good, at least be good at it --

  4. Lots  I knew the SD cards were ex-Orac as I'd read that here somewhere... and I recalled reading something related on CNCZone. I can google faster than a speeding bullet and electronics is my speciality; so skim reading an old system manual and picking out the salient points isnt hard...
