    Hello from Reno, Nevada

I just bought a LPKF pcb milling machine without the controller, drivers, software.
I've added two VEXTA 5128 Driver units and finally figured out the 10 wire steppers.
I had to wire them into a pentagon setup to work with the Vexta drivers. Figuring out the phase sequences of the BergerLahr steppers was a nightmare. I believe the steppers were wired as a three phase unipolar, bipolar(who knows) before I changed it to 5-phase to match the motors natural state. I have that information to share. It wasn't available anywhere that I had looked. A lot of people were asking for that info though. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to hook up my laptop to the Vexta drivers without a parallel port. Another great challenge!!!

  2. Hi there and welcome to the site. Was in Reno briefly myself a few weeks back on way to Yosemite! 5-phase drivers aren't particularly common in hobby machines.
