Hi, this will be my first build so i have decided to go with the following-
    http://buildyourcnc.com/cnckitintro.aspx

I have already bought the plans, just in the middle of converting everything to metric. I will be mainly cutting MDF, soft wood and some hard woods. For the electronic side of things i have seen this kit-
    http://buildyourcnc.com/electronicscombo.aspx.

But i understand from reading on this site that it is preferable to use separate boards in case things go pop. Is there a cheaper alternative for a complete novice to use

Your electronics kit link is wrong...

  3. You might have a look at www.diycnc.co.uk for an alternate electronics configuration
