I am 41 and have been doing machining for about 25 years. I now teach a CNC class called Rapid Prototyping for designers at the local university. I have a small home shop with the standard manual machines. My interest here is 2 part. I would like to build a small development platform for my own shop where I can play around with different head types (laser, router, extrusion head ECT…) I would also like to develop a course for my students so they can also build a low cost router based machines for their own projects. I found this site and it looks to have some of the best how to posting I have seen. I hope I can contribute some small amount to the group as well.

    Thanks
    Jeff

  2. Hi Jeff and welcome to the site. The idea of a course that ends up with a small CNC machine is appealing. We did start a thread on a low-cost beginners machine, but it stalled from lack of time of the main proponents. Hopefully it'll get resurrected at some time. We look forward to your contributions.
