    Hi All.
Just joined the site in the hope that someone will be able to give me some good advice on buying a cnc router. I am looking for a machine that will will enable me to cut various shapes in plyboard & timber etc up to 1" thick. min working area 1m sq and upwards.
Im looking for something that wont be too intimidating and too harsh on the wallet ( have around £5k to spend). If such a machine exists, i'd be more than happy to hear about it. Similarly, if there's a thread on here somewhere describing the same sort of thing, i'd love to be pointed in the right direction.
    Many thanks for your help.

    Hi g4briel007

I built my own machine so can't comment on the performance of commercial ones, but here are a few fairly well known ones to have a look at:

    Routoutcnc
    http://www.routoutcnc.com/

    Marchant Dice
    http://www.worldofcnc.com/

    Heiz (German)
    http://www.cnc-router-routers.com/

    Rhonmac
    http://www.rhonmac-cnc.co.uk/pro_cnc_routers.htm

The 1" cutting requirement would probably steer you towards the bottom of the list - something like the Rhonmac 6090 based on the specs. The MD and Routout ones appear on ebay 2nd hand from time to time. Sorry I can't recommend anything in particular but hope this gives you some ideas . . .
