Thread: lathe jaws

  1. #1
Hi guys got my self a import mini lathe this week and have just noticed i have
two sets of the same jaws I checked the scroll on the back of the jaw and there
all the same both sets seem to be inside jaws

my question is, are jaws on a lathe mached to the chuck ( i got a feeling they are )
dont realy want to take the chuck off and send it back lol cost a fortune lol
and i have just dialed it in

    cheers guys

It would have to be one hell of a chuck to warrant that. You are quite safe if they send the missing jaws

Self centering chucks just aren't that accurate. You can machine soft jaws to be accurate at one particular diameter or shell out for a Grip-Tru, but chuck accuracy is usually a lucky dip.
