    Hi t everyone. I'm a mechanic by trade i've been watching this site for a considerably time now and thought it was time to join. I've just bought a 2nd hand surface table and its my intention to build a cnc router on it.

    hi steve welcome to the mad house... i dont know much if anything about cnc and i certainly dont know what a surface table is so any pics/explanations would be great. :D

    Its a big lump of cast iron the table top dimensions are 6 feet x 3 feet i intend to use it in a landscape manner using 2 i beams extending over the 3 foot direction by about 18 inchs or so the idea being that it would make it an easier way to add a fourth axis. I've started drawing it up in sketchup after reading about sketchup on this forum. No doubt i'll have a lot of questions to ask and hopefully get answered later on.
