    Doesn't stop this lot:

CNC Controller 4 stepper motors Router Mill Plasma | eBay

You can just see in the photo that the stepper connector is female...

Yes but look who's selling them.

Might be worth a glance thru the low voltage wiring regs.

  4. If its under 48v DC its not an issue, though it isn't best practice. Over 48v its a no-no...

EDIT: Its changed in the latest regs:

Insulation against Direct Contact of the conductive parts of a SELV system is required if the operating voltage exceeds 12 V a.c. or 30 V d.c. Insulation is not required if the operating voltage is at or below these values.

Thanks Irving, saves me looking at the regs but as you say law or not it's not good practice.

So because I have to keep to regs, these are not for me. I have some of the 4 pin military type ones similar to these.

CONNECTOR Picture - More Detailed Picture about 4pin circular connector, diameter 1.5mm*4 ,free shipping Picture in Connectors from Shanhe Electric Co Ltd

But opposite, female in the socket so legal, Again all the ones on the aliexpress site seem to be opposite

Just been in the workshop and stripped two of the military plugs down as in the pic above, one from RS ? with correct female insulated chassis plug and one of the above from Ebay.

Idea was to see how easy if possible, they could have the guts swapped over, yes they can do but it takes 3/4 of an hour and you make a right mess getting wire circlips out that were never designed to be removed. So unless you can get these female chassis type that's a non runner on time alone. Certainly don't fancy taking a week off work to do 100

So the question is what other than XLR's are available in 4 and 6 pins Female Chassis mount and good for 8 amps ?

I asked the supplier if they could do the 19mm the other way round and they've now listed these:

Aliexpress.com : Buy 4 pins push pull circular quick connector 16mm from Reliable connector suppliers on Shande Electric Factory

I'll ask if they can do the same but 19mm...

If the 19mm is to get the current capacity, (GX16 is nominally 5A) ask them if they can do 1.5mm pins instead of 1mm in the GX16. They'll be good for 8+A and some suppliers do them in the 16mm shell (as per one of the datasheets I listed)
