Awhile back finding a new fan guard for the engine on a VW t2 camper, was like finding rocking horse stuff. So I decided to make my own.
    This is my first attempt.

Although this initially looked ok, I was worried it may be to restrictive to air flow. Which is a disaster on these old aircooled engines. After a bit of thinking and advice I came up with this.

    The design.

    Take a VW hub cap.

    Drilling the wire start holes.

    Cutting the design.

    Machining the frame.

    Almost there.

    Painted and assembled.

    On the van.

Thats one of the best Trick parts Ive seen.

Some good designing, machining techniques too.

I would of painted it a different colour, but it does match the van and each to their own i guess.

    Still a worthy !

Final thought, have you ever thought of tapping in to the van community im sure you'll be part of and producing these for a profit?

This was a few months ago now. A company is knocking out plastic injection ones now for 25 a pop!

Hybrid, lexan/OEM modified part, with that finish > injection mouled pish.

I definatly see potential for a product here oscar, varient of the lexan you used or tinted, as well as different finishes on the machined hub cap should provide enough variation to appeal to many.

    The quality speaks for itself!

I agree. But it would need a punch made for the hub caps. Wiring them takes way to long.
    Thanks for the kind comments.

Ahh fair enough Oscar. Ive never done wiring before so as a process I have no prior knowlege of the lead times. If it were me though I would definatly manufacture a self spare, for another possible project or just for keep sake incase. The machines used are they personal? Id love to have access to stuff like that!

The machines belong to the company I work for. But the boss doesn't mind us using them for personal stuff, in our own time.
