Thread: Speed control

The Kress 1050 FME-1 runs from 5000rpm to 25000rpm and the spec sheet contains the line "Full wave electronics for constant performance and speed".

The Kress 1050 FME is listed as "10000 to 29000 rpm at idle" but doesn't have the built in speed control.

    So, my question is - how would a 1050 FME-1 stack up against a 1050 FME + SuperPID ?

Less wiring etc on the former but the latter allows spindle speed control from Mach3.

How often during a job would you need to change the speed, and wouldn't you do that at the same time as changing the tool anyway ?

And why does the 1050 FME have such a wide variance in the idle speed - surely that's not good if you don't employ some form of speed control ?

The way I read that is that you can set the speed anywhere between 10,000 & 29.000 but that would be a no load speed ie at idle. soon as you put some load on the spindle it will slow, the amount it will slow will depend on the load & as there is no speed control the drop is not compensated for.

If you have decided the Kress router is the best option, then a SuperPID will certainly improve it. There's one going cheap here.
