I am looking at the fact that I own a Kress 1050 FME spindle and that Kress collets are pretty much fit to size only. I have noticed that there is spindle shanks from Cutwell tools that are only 1mm thicker then the Kress collet spindle (Kress uses a two part press fit spindle system with the motor armature being pressed inside the collect spindle).

My Idea is to replace the Kress collet spindle with an ER25 spindle and upgrade the bearings while at it to improve overall running and cool things down a bit. Anyone interested in this crazy idea? The problem is finding someone with the time and a lathe that can mill the mm off that is needed and an arbor press to use to disassemble and reassemble the unit.

Well if anyone is interested in this crazy Idea let me know.
