    Hi all,
I'm a bit confused as to what the minimum requirements are on a break out board. My planned system is a PC with LinuxCNC, BOB, drivers and stepper motors.

    Take this for instance:

Obviously there are no opto couplers to protect the computer. But is anything else needed for comunicating with the stepper drivers?

    Thanks
    Patrik
I've upped my standards. Now, up yours!

From my experience a breakout board is simply a extension of the connecting port which makes it easier to connect the wires. I would have thought opto couplers would be a high priority though.

Try doing a search on the forum, someone asked a question like this not that long ago & there were some good explanations given.

This is the one that I have bought CNC4PC as the one that was supplied for free with the drivers I found would not work well with the pp. This one worked staight out of the box and is independant and isolated from the pp.
