    Hey guys what's the biggest difference between all the nema 23 style stepper motors? I'm aware that specific to my needs I should be looking for 439oz 3.1nm steppers but I don't know why.

    Whilst looking for the wantai drivers I notice that company sells 425oz steppers but not the 439oz ones.. How big of a difference is that?? If need be I'll come back later and give links

    No difference at all, in fact it's probably hype they can't prove

    you mean the 425 and 439oz are likely to be the same? no one has actually said they are/are not yet i'm just curious as from what i can see they look like they even have different model numbers

    Nema23 Stepper Motor 3.1Nm x 3 are the well recommended 439oz motors that everyone has said i need from this forum.

    and yet when i look around the closest i find is these 3 PCS Nema 23 stepper motor 425oz-in,4.2A,2phase CNC Engrave www.wantmotor.com | eBay which from reading i dont really know if they are the same or not?? i suppose its really null and void as they are acctually more expensive anyway, i was just looking at that company as they are who i'm buying my drivers from

    Wilfy, the title says 425 the listing says 428 ? :rollseyes:, it also says 30kg-cm that converts to 416oz-in and that is 2.9Nm.

    It's so close i wouldn't worry too much, choose some 3Nm motors and crack on, have a good look at the specs, buying from a reputable source maybe somthing to think about. There are a number of manufacturers out there so model numbers will be different, its what is inside the motor that counts hence "reputable source".

    Check what the phase inductance of the motors is. Virtually all of the cheap ones have a significantly greater inductance than the 3Nm motors from Zapp or CNC4You. If it's more than those don't bother with them since it will substantially limit the torque output as rpm increases.

    Info needed please.
    I have 4 x nema23 (57BYGH56-401A) these seem to be ony 175 OZ-in.
    x=1500mm, y= 750mm, z=300mm
    Im on a very low budget, I can up grade later if needed.
    I hope to cut plastic, mdf, 3mm Aluminium, car dash board.
    Any feed back most welcome.

    Jamie you may have answered your own question? You could gear them down to get more torque. By the time you have spent out doing that you may be better off putting them on Ebay and buying some more. If you just wanted to cut thin material then you maybe ok.

    If i used two of the motors i now have on the x axis, will this work ?
    Next, what axis Y or Z has the least load so that I can use another one of the motors I now have, im thinking maybe the Z is that correct ?
    If i can get away with both of the above, all I need to do is get a bigger motor for the Y axis.
    Thanks for your time.
