I have just rescued a machine that was to be scrapped for the metal by a local engineering company. It was taken in by them a few years ago - and they have no idea what it is.

It has a Vexta stepper motor - and looks like some kind of cnc lathe?

Does anyone know what this is?

I'd guess it holds something round something for engraving, possibly a glass.

Interesting that you suggest that - the rotating elements both have rubber padded surfaces for gripping whatever is used in this machine...

Maybe also engraving of Pewter Beermugs or Trophies?

Could it be some kind of driven roll dispenser?

Surely it has to be the rotary axis for a cnc engraving machine. It looks quite nice though and if you don't want too much for it I would be interested in buying it. G.

I have one very similar on my laser cutting and engraving machine.

I agree with the engraving attachment. I love the use of the magnet ( pink part ) as the "clamping" device for the right end.

Gonna incorporate that into one of my projects.

    Thanks guys :)

Further searching reveals it is indeed a rotary attachment for a laser engraving machine. It is listed as an accessory for LaserCAM engravers.

I've had a few people express an interest in it - so I've popped it onto eBay - item number 221191002284.

    Thanks again :)
