    Hi All
    Here we go.
My name is Mike and I build and fly radio control model Aircraft and Helicopters, before doing that I restored Military vehicles and Land Rovers. Five years ago I had a accident at work (I was a AA patrol man for 24 years) that has left me disabled so I had to give up restoring vehicles and started building models again after a break of 30 plus years.
Anyway I am about to start my first build of a CNC router and will need lots of help and advice.

Welcome to the forum Mike, you could start by reading some of the build logs, will answer a lot of the questions you may have & give you a good idea how to go about starting your own build.

    Hi Martin54,
Thanks for the welcome. I will be starting a build in the DIY CNC Machine Building Router build log, It will be a slow build but I have already started gathering supplies.

Not always a good idea to start collecting parts before you have a design sorted, best to design the machine first & then buy suitable parts for that design, can save you wasting money on parts that aren't really suitable for what you want to build.

I agree its better to design the machine first, I have the machine all ready designed its just the electrics I need to sort out, the design also has provision to be made more rigid without any loss all I need to do is add another piece of aluminium profile.
I have posted the start of the build in the DIY CNC Machine Building and one of the first drawings of the Z axis.
