    Hi Jazz

If i read you right you are suggesting i shorten the cables that are already attached to the motors, then run 4 core shielded cable back to the drivers, but will this not leave a small amount of cable unshielded ?

Yes you read correct but think you must have missed this bit.? . . ."One thing I've done in past is have a small connection box near Stepper so unshielded wires to motor are short, I wrap these with foil and shrink wrap then use Gremflex shield on outer. "

Ok well I couldn't find SY57STH76-3008E data sheet only 3008B so if your wire colours differ then let me know or send me a link to data sheet.

    So First SY57STH76-3008B (E)

    Phase 1
    A + = RED + BLUE
    A - = Yellow + BLACK

    Phase 2
    B + = White + BROWN
    B - = Orange + Green

    SY60STH86- 3000BF

    Phase 1
    A + = Blue/White + RED
    A - = Red/White + Blue

    Phase 2
    B + = Green/white + Black
    B - = Black/white + Green

    Hope this helps.!

Yes but wouldn't be my first choice to fasten box on stepper directly but if your only option then fine. Have you seen these type motor end covers with connections Nema 24 (60mm) stepper motor end cover | eBay
Not saying buy these has they are expensive but if you talk nice to someone Say Clive S . . . . they might be up to 3D print you some and they are very neat.

Also don't take the shield back to the Drive Ground take it back to the Main star ground point.

    Thanks Jazz

Those covers on E Bay look great, but they will prevent me using the manual wheels, my steppers have the spindle at both ends, i thought it would be useful if i was only doing a quick milling job, instead of setting up on mach 3.
