Thread: Wiring a motor - as a newbie!
I normally have a good friend of mine building my control boxes so ive never had the chance to see how its done. my question is to you good guys how the hell do i wire these things up, or more importantly can you explain the diagram for me?
Could someone please explain the attached image please so i can try crack this once and for all ..
Driver : PM452
Motor : Plantry gearbox with CNC4you - 60BYGH301B
Please guys before you sit back in your chair and snigger about my question please consider we were all here at one point - maybe some of us more clued up than others
Hey d-man, those curly bits are the windings of the stepper motor. So from your pic you would join the YEL and BLU together and the ORG and BRN. Then run the remaining 4 to your stepper driver.
I'm sure someone who has a clue what they are talking about will be along shortly with better info so best you wait for them!

Ah that does make sense! cheers pal!
however my current setup runs 4 pins and this one will work out as 6, or are you saying that the joined wires dont go to anything which would result in 4 pins :)
Are you sure you want to use that way to connect the motor ? that's a series connection, most would recommend the parallel connection.
Yellow & Blue, connected together but going nowhere, just insulate once joined.
Orange & Brown, connected together but going nowhere, just insulate once joined.Spelling mistakes are not intentional, I only seem to see them some time after I've posted
Well it was just to try get my head around it Eddie, then i looked at the parallel connection and started to smell smoke (From my brain!) Parallel connection here http://prntscr.com/4wyek3
Cheers for that Eddie appreciate it
Ok so, going for the parallel connection am i right in saying...
A+ - Red/Blue
A- - Yellow/Black
B+ - White/Brown
B- - Orange/Brown
My head hurts this early
A+ Red & Blue joined together
A- Yellow & Black joined together
B+ White & Brown joined together
B- Orange & Green joined together
Edit: Ha ha you just beat me to it but you got B- wrong (typing too fast likely)

I have the wires joined, its just getting the 4 coupled wires into the A+ A- & B+ B- if you know what i mean.. how do you determine what double wire is for where
A+ yellow/white & red
A- yellow & red/white
B+ green/white & black
B- green & black/white
