Software compatability

Hi all.

As a noob I wanted to ask a question about software.

My old man has a flexiCAM Machine, I'm 100% sure he got ripped off but thats a story for another time.

Upshot it that the design software, which i think is also called FlexiCam, isnt great. My dad is pretty good with AutoCAD and wants to beable to use that mostly. This FlexiCAM doesnt like importing / exporting etc very well.

Can you Change the software on these types of machines or is it more hassel than its worth. As I'm assuming that some hardware/drivers may need to be updated.
