    Hi,

Am new to the forum and am hoping to get some advise on a suitable machine for making loud speaker horns.

So far I have been looking at JBEC and Routout with a bed at 4ft by 4ft.

Here are some pictures of what I have had made for me in the past, they are built from layers of 18mm ply and joined on dowels which locate the layers accurately. The horn, once glued up requires quite a lot of sanding back as the machining process leaves "steps". This is fine but I am wondering if this process of sanding maybe avoided, I expect some finishing to be needed of course.

The bottom two drawings are profiles of the horns I want to make next.As it stands I have quotes for doing this on a 5 axis machine (expensive) and on a 3 axis. The 3 axis would mean machining in 2 halves and joining down the centre line of the horn.

Any advice would be most welcome.

    In terms of budget 7-8K.

    Cheers Simon.
