Thread: Robot !!!

    Hi guys

This is kind of related to CNC as I've seen a similar machine being controlled by linuxcnc.

Here is my Asea IRB-6 5 axis robot. I've had the machine for a little while and have used it pretty much as an ornament in my workshop, its practically an industrial antique and this type was one of the first of its kind to be implemented in any quantity in industry.

The robot is complete with its pretty large control cabinet and hand pendant. I bought the machine as a bit of a novelty and never really intended to use it for manufacturing. There is a fault in the control electronics though and I've spent a little time trying to trace where the problem lies. Unfortunately I don't really have enough expertise and time especially to get to the bottom of it.

The robot arm itself is in fantastic mechanical condition, the paintwork is very good also. All of the axis have dc servo motors with resolver feedback, easily changed to digital encoder though I'd imagine. This would make an excellent project for someone who is competent with Linux cnc or other similar software.

I'm offering the machine here first, but I will be listing it on a popular auction site in the next couple of days.

I'm looking for sensible offers, please PM me if you are interested.
