Hello everyone, I have joined this group because I am very interested in converting a bench top Milling machine to CNC. I am still undecided as to which machine to purchase. I would like one with a dovetail column for positive head location when moving the Z axis. Any advice will be gratefully received.
I have a very small amount of experience in this area having acquired a CNC controlled engraving table with a non functioning control system a while back, I muddled my way through getting interfaced to a PC and working with Mach3.

    All the Best
    Ivan.

  2. Hi Ivan What part of Essex?

(Us Colchestrians are a little snooty about being called Essex men, referring to it as North-East Essex or Essex/Suffolk boarder ;))

Oh, I think I'm big enough to cast the hand of friendship south of Chelmsford ;)

Hi Ivan, don't let the 'northerners'* put you off; most of them are friendly, some even speak English.

    * - Actually, there's a kiwi on the board somewhere, so I guess we're all northerners now :)
