Where to buy from cheap servo motors/drives ? For a small machine, around 200W and one 400W to move the gantry using 2 ball screws.

    Any chance in Europe? China?

Till now i have found cncdrive http://www.shop.cncdrive.com/ , but still need to translate iin my mind what 150W servomotor could do . i am making a small machine prototype and would like to test it with servos that will not break the bank. I believe something around 200W would be ok

    Brushed or brushless?

Brushless start at around $450 US. Very little price difference between 200 and 400w.

    It does not matter really.

I found leadshine have some new motor which i did not know of

Integrated servo motors NEMA 23 motor with1000 encoder & a servo drive at one machine can output 2NM Torque

Quite a contenders for what i need them.

wow for that price they look pretty good eh

im using the DMM kit , for the first time in 6 months the machine skipped , but im sure its a mach3/pc issue

get a set and let us know how they work :D is this for a new project ?

Yes. I have a new project in mind. Bluntly said- I want to make and sell the best small machines in the market.

I would like also to be the most affordable for what it offers, so all parts which are not produced by me must be industrial quality but at good price to keep overall price down. I have several strategies to achieve this and one of them is everything to be as easy/ fast/ to assemble as possible.
I have the sketchup design finished. Now i am redrawing it in NX, cause i would like a perfect CAD model. Some time ago i started a thread which i will soon update. There would be also some secrecy, until i am not ready with the prototype. I have 3 standard small machines in mind to sell, all share Z design, rails spacing and so. Already tested design on the yellow machine, my first build, which again i have to note is capable of milling aluminum with perfect finish while Z is fully extended at 200mm and digging 1.5-2mm in the aluminum.

So i decided to start with the 6040machine, moving gantry. There will be 6090 and 4040 fixed gantry.

    hence the servo search.

Sorry, you are right of course. I messed up with so many browser open windows. I meant that one

If you look at Leadshine's website, they say this about there "Easy Servo"

A Leadshine integrated easy servo motor consists of a high torque stepper motor, a rotary encoder, and an integrated DSP-based digital easy servo drive.
So they are really just a closed loop stepper system.
