    Hi guys,

I see lots of you always mentioning Fred from BST as a good supplier, but when I compare price with Chai from linearmotionbearings2008 he's really cheaper. Does anyone know the difference between them?

I ordered from Chai and noticed that Hiwin rails doesn't have the logo printed on it. What does that mean?

It means Chia's are not genuine Hi-win or could possibly be Hi-win Rejects.? Fred's rails and bearings are Genuine Hi-win with laser eteched markings. Infact the last batch I ordered from Fred came direct from Hi-win to me.

Thanks, here is a photo of mine. it really looks like to be Hiwin. The red protection is rubber. Is there a way to be sure that it's genuine or not?
If they are rejected, it means that they have a quality issue, is it right?

    The manufacturer's markings, Simples! ;-)
You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D

I have some genuine ones purchased from HiWin, will post a photo of what they look like.

Hi win rails have got the logo etched into the metal but it's really hard to see it sometimes. A strong lamp helps held at the right angle.

    Cheers

They look ok to me but difficult to tell without having in your hands. The copies tend not to have any Hi-win markings at all, they just look the same.
The etchings on the rails can sometimes be difficult to see and won't always be on short rails so check any longer rails you have.

Thanks everyone, I'll check again to see if I miss something. Next time I'll order with Fred.
I just noticed that the counterbore on the rails seems to be better on the Genuine (left) than mine.

And what do you think about the Chai Ballscrew RM... anyone has already tried them?

    Hi BriceO,

Do you need a better closeup of the counter bore?

Sorry for bringing back this old thread.
I am also considering Fred store for my DIY CNC mill linear rails/ball screws/etc. How do you say that parts from Fred are genuine? How do you differentiate fake HIWIN from Genuine?
You also mention that a batch came directly to you from HIWIN after ordering from BST. Can I know some more details? Did you get a receipt/etc that's issued by HIWIN or a direct authorized distributor?

    Thanks
    S
