    Hi,

Need a little help. I can't decided which screw ball pitch to install for my new CNC 1605 or 1610 for Y and Z axis. It will mostly be using Inlays wood to make cutting board.

I'm afraid 1610 will be too fast for more precise work. For example in the video below:

    Thank you

    Hi gborislav

Use 1610 pitch ballscrews for your x and y axes and 1605 on your z axis. For wood you need higher feedrates than you're thinking, so you don't burn the wood by having the tool rubbing instead of cutting. In the video you showed the feed rate is >2500 mm/min

    I wish I had bought 1610 when I built my machine ....

    Kind Regards
    Michael

The pitch of the screw isn't all about speed, you also need to consider the resolution you might need.? However, for a wood router, a 10mm pitch still gives far more resolution than your likely to need and a 10mm pitch is the correct choice for a router that is mostly cutting wood.

The feed rates or speed you cut at are under your control so you can speed up or slow down to suit the job, however, if you choose too low pitch then this can limit the feeds and you can't reach the correct feeds for cutting some materials/tools.
-use common sense, if you lack it, there is no software to help that.
