OK so I'm back looking for help.
The Mrs has now suggested that she would like me to make her a square oak block with a bowl carve in to it so she can put her jewellery in at night.
I gave her a breakfast bowl (which she chucked at me.... it missed).
Now I really do not know where to start on this ........
    which bit to use.
    what tool path to set.
I have tried but all I get is a round hole with flat sides....

    Any ideas ......

What CAM software are you using ? can you draw the bowl in CAD and import as a 3D object ?

But if you want it easy I think you need some 2.5D or 3D CAM software, something that can import stl files and generate the gcode. e.g. Cut3D
