Retired Professional Engineer (Mechanical). Served five year apprenticeship in late '50's as fitter-turner. Currently converting a GL45 dovetail bench mill to CNC using steppers (very slowly), with a Gecko 540 and Mach 3, using a Compaq Laptop thru a Warp 9 USB/Parallel interface card - seems to work well! Also have an AL330 lathe (~6" swing x30"), a pre-war Myford and a power cut-off band saw - beats a hand hacksaw any time.
