Ok guys been on Ebay buying some router bits for cabinet making however, I failed to realise the shank dia!!!
Is there some sort of adaptor I can get from my ER20 2.2Kw spindle to ER25 or do i have to go back on Ebay after a few more Jack Daniels to soften the blow of a new spindle?

Thinking about one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Profession...item258f5d4c57
However, do you think it would be best to go for a tool change spindle?

I've had a similar thing only with Guinness, 16mm shanks ?
Before splashing out on a new spindle better to have a good think about it, write down your requirements then make a list of all the spindles that meet them.
This might be a good place to start, http://www.spindlesas.co.uk/ I bought my Elte spindle here, (sorry to say this but it has an ER25 collet), Trevor was good to deal with.
They do tool changers as well; http://www.eltesrl.com/ look uder 'Products' TabLast edited by EddyCurrent; 04-11-2014 at 01:43 PM.

haha yeah 16mm right up to 20 mm I bought, some nice bits i got a hell of a deal. i just stuck 6 quid bill on them all (packs of 5) and i won them all. now knowing why. so for 130 quid i not have about 60 industrial bits haha
Thanks i may just give him a call what sort of money are we talking. Speaking with him may be daunting as im faily new to choosing the spindle. i went for the 2.2kw simply because alot of people were at the time.

I doubt that your machine has enough power to really take advantage of a 16mm tool, let alone a 20mm tool. I'd try to re-sell them and buy smaller tooling.
On our $100K machine, we cut with 1/2" bits at 20-25 meters/min with no issues. I have a 5/8 (16mm) compression spiral in the ATC for jobs that need deep cuts, but I'm afraid to push it really hard as the cutting forces are incredibly high.Gerry
