Sticker shock

Ordering some gear tonight for a job making some motor slip rings.
Need a few bits of M5 threaded rod to hold it all together, normally get this from RS as it's not worth messing with postage etc for bits.

OK looked on the site and it comes in 5 lengths x 1 metre for 1.012 per length so roughly £5 plus VAT, not worth searching but it's discontinued so look at the new part and that's in 2 pieces at £8.45 EACH!!!!!!!!!!

I mean come on, I know brass has gone up but 800% ????

Farnell no longer stock it.

Ebay has 5 lengths for £20 inc postage so £4.00 a length.

I'll price some 5mm bar tomorrow and see how that works out to thread each end.
