hi, i found this site by accident and thought why not join up.
i am attempting to build my own cnc router, on a very limited budget, so far just the frame done, now to do the drives and gantry for the cutter.
i yhad thought about a rack and pinion (instead of screw) drive for the sides of the gantry, any reasons why not?
i look forward to your thoughts.
anyone else in somerset doing the same thing?
maybe we could get together and swop info.

Hi, sands
I think the guys here will say they would prefer RP over screws.
On another note, how did you find the site by accident ?
