View Full Version : FRO/SSO Potentiometer recommendations?
Has anybody got any potentiometer recommendations for Feed Rate / Spindle Speed overrides?
It's not that I can't find any potentiometers that's the problem, it's the fact I can find too many, so I'm hoping somebody has a suggestion or two. I'm ideally looking for something a bit more industrial, that can take a knock or two.

Look at the manufacturers of pushbuttons, and they'll often have matching pots, like these.

Hi m_c
Are you looking for a replacement for an existing control or are you building your own control panel ?
if you go to RS Components for example
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/passive-components/variable-resistors/potentiometers/?searchTerm=potentiometers
use the filters on the left hand side of the page
select
the maximum resistance
the number of turns - one or multi turn
type - linear
mounting type - bush mount
shaft diameter - 1/4" or 6mm
element type - Cermet or wire wound
etc
by the time you have selected
the options you require
you will of reduce the 1500 potentiometrs down to half a dozen at most
as an example if your looking for a single turn linear 5K potentiometer
is this what your looking for ?

for alternative UK suppliers
try Rapidonline.com or uk.farnell.com

Thanks for the suggestions. This is for a new panel.
I was looking for something like what Ger linked to, but they're bit too expensive to get anything like that in the UK. A bit searching of RS has yielded 502-8637, which is listed as suitable for industrial controls. That's a 10K version, but I may go for a 5K.
I still need to work out the finer details of wiring the panel, but at least I now have the basic components.

I have spotted this if it helps 10K Ohm, Single Turn, Panel Mount Speed Pot
