Hi,

I have an XSY-AT1 inverter 3pH, i'm setting it up for the spindle below and just have a bit of a problem with the terminology in my manual, which differs from much of the documentation I see about the HuanYang, which I was using as a reference.

I'm just trying to get the basics set up, 400khz and min freq 120khz etc. What are the following setting I should input for the perameters below?

P00 Max voltage
P01 Reference voltage
P02 Intermediate voltage
P03 Intermediate frequency
P04 Min voltage
P05 Min Frequency
P06 Max operating
P07 Min operating

2.2kw air cooled spindle
current 220v
Current 6a
Frequency 400htz
speed 10-24000htz
2 pole

I'll never understand why people keep buying these chinese VFD's that noone's ever heard of, and then ask how to set them up???
Did it come with a manual?

I suspect the reason is that, like many people, They're Cheap! :D

But they're not any cheaper than a Huanyang, and in many cases, people pay more for them. :numbness:

I've stuck with the big 1st world names with brilliant documentation for 20 years, as I put a positive value on my time I figure I'm well ahead of the game ;-)

Apologies for the silence been in the Cairngorms!

I bought it because its dimensional height meant it would fit in my control box. It has a manual (of sorts) Here’s a scanned page with some of the key perameters to set.

If the Huanyang would fit in my control box I would have bought one. 24641

From the looks of that you need to set
Maximum Operating to 400 and
Minimum Operating to the correct percentage of 400 to give your spindle's rated minimum speed.
Reference Speed to 400 and
Intermediate Speed to halfway between 400 and minimum rated speed

thanks thats very useful information.

I have virtually the same setup as you but just cant get the spindle to run with any consistency. The spindle starts and slowly builds up speed but stutters and then trips out on Err 1 (Short circuit/Current overload/Power module protection). I have tried numerous combination of settings to no success. I assume you have your system running and would be grateful if you or others can point me in the right direction.

Sounds familiar . I'm not near the cnc till tomorrow but can paste the P1-P8 VFD settings, which might be of use.

Thanks very much. I have subsequently connected and programmed a Teco VFD I have, but getting the same results coming out "inverter overload". I think I am doing something fundamentally wrong and keep going over the programming options to try and discover. I have an clamp meter attached and abort the start-up very quickly as current way over the spindle rating. All help much appreciated.

After a bit of trial and error I have the spindle running although clarification would be good on what the intermediate frequency does.
P00. 220
P01. 400
P02 15
P03. 200. Changing this from 25 up to 200 resolved the matter. Not happy at 100 but ok at 300. Spindle starts to rotate when this value reached.
P04. 0
P05. 0
P06 400
P07. 0
P78. 8000

Be interested to see how your values compare.

It suggests to me that the VFD is defaulted for a 3ph 50 Hz motor and once you come away from that various other factors come into play.

Im running a small surface grinder on one of these and cant seem to get the power id expect. Ive been looking for the current limit. Any idea where it is?

I am absolutely no expert and hopefully somebody can assist. Not sure what you mean you are not getting the power you expect. You have set P78 to the rating of your grinder?

It's set as when I got it at 8000 but I'm not sure what it's 8000 of? My grinder has a rating in amps and it certainly isn't 8000 amps. Is this milliamps?

Yes, 1Amp = 1000 mA

In which case its set far too high. I'll set it to the correct rating. I feel it may be something else then. Is there a pole count setup?

Hi,

For anyone looking for a known set of working parameters/settings for the XSY-AT1 VFD, George (tarawa (http://www.mycncuk.com/members/25219-tarawa)) has posted back his settings that worked for him, the link to this info is below:
