Hello Everyone,

Just reposting this, hope it doesn't double-post but the previous attempt didn't appear, apologies if duplicated.

I've got a machine bit which I'm trying to find out what it is, unfortunately the people I know locally don't know, so I thought I'd post the question further away.

There should be two photo's in this post, one from the front and one from the back of the bit, the only identifier is the mark 2,8 r (I think it's an 'r') and one end is flat bell shaped.

Any help with it's identification would be appreciated!

All the best
Tony

Never seen anything like that before, what machine is it from? What material is the black bit made from?

That's the problem, it was just in a pile of bits. I don't know what machine it's from.

The end isn't black, it's just a shadow, I really don't know.

I'm sure someone has seen one of these though, surely?

Looks more like a small shaft with key-ways to accommodate a pulley or gear, can't see any cutting edges

It isn't a 'machine bit' it's a bit of a machine. Personally I'd just bin it and buy something I have a use for.
