Hi Andy,

Have you considered a drag knife on your own machine?

Some non-flat bed plotters can accept a backing board and will then run the jobs you think you need a flat bed for ;-)

There is a few different versions of basically the same thing out there but the Stanley Blade version seems to be quite popular, couple of designs on GrabCad if you fancy making your own: https://grabcad.com/library?page=1&time=all_time&sort=recent&query=drag%20knife

If not then you can just buy the cutter holder as a spare part for a commercial vinyl cutting machine and make it fit your machine spindle/collets, I guess you could probaly even do away with the holder and just make something to hold the vinyl cutting blades...

Can get them quite cheap on ebay now days:

Looks perfect thanks

Where could I buy one like the one in the YouTube video?

I don't understand how the ebay link one works?

@andy_con did you get your vinyl cutter? What's a flat bed?

I'm in the market for a good vinyl cutter as well and seeking some advice.
Btw sorry for being off topic.

The net is filled with useless reviews. Most of these people haven't seen a vinyl cutter but they share their opinions as if. In a way I got bored with the hype.

The other day I came across a different blog. The blogger is harsh with all brands and points out their flaws. That gave her some street cred. After reading this best die cut machines (https://freshlypickedblog.com/best-vinyl-cutting-machines/) review I got stuck.

Dunno if it's worth to invest the big money if a desktop machine can do the job just as well. What would you pick from the list?

So anybody with pointers?

That's like when the mechanic asked me if he could borrow a screwdriver, I learned to ask "What For".
Explain why it needs to be flat bed and I might believe you, if it's because the material must be kept perfectly flat then you are not right ;-)
