I was bored during the lock down and my mind started wandering.. I had a spindle encoder on my little mill and was wondering if I could gear the x/y axis to cut a polygon. One of the developers of linuxcnc did something similar on his lathe as a proof of concept.

after figuring out my 144 count encoder wasn't nearly high enough resolution to do a decent job I upgraded to a 20,000 count per rev enocoder
