Hi I know nothing about CNC wood working machines but I am looking at cutting/profiling 8'x4' birch ply 15mm laminated sheets for constructing storage lockers, cabinets and racking for tool storage in the rear of vans.
Any advice on suitable machine types, models approx set up costs or youtube video links much appreciated
Cheers

Clive means this one I think.!

This one in the Video is 8 x4 and used for cutting signs. I also have another but 10 x 5 with Vac bed and automatic tool changer that is used for cutting Camper van kits and ply lining kits.
The vertical design is massive space saver and great for sheet and panel work, but I have also built several conventional horizontal 8 x 4 and 10 x 5 machines. However, I kind of specialise in building Bespoke machines so can build what ever you want really. Drop me a PM if you want a chat and I'll send you my contact details.

Hi,
I would like to present to you my app that I wrote for servicing CNC machines. I’m happy to get ideas on what else would be a good development. The app is still in test phase.
Download from here for android phone:

Hi, I've also admired this machine on YouTube. I'm intending getting my 1st CNC router next year sometime. Mainly for cutting birch ply etc and engraving hardwood. Could you give me an idea on what a machine like this would cost?
Many thanks...
Stephen

Robin, built an even Larger Monster, 10 x 5 with ATC and Vac bed, here it is cutting the HDPE bed. I hate those bloody chips, my Extractor had split its bag and I couldn't wait, I soon regretted that decision...:hopelessness:

Sorry didn't see this.!
I don't want to disclose the price of this machine on a public forum as it's not fair to the person who bought it. Plus this is several years old now and with the Economy, Brexit, and Covid has it is at the moment the price will be different because components and shipping have gone up massively. However, if you contact me when you are ready then I'll gladly give you a price.

Star man! I've got a shepherd's hut to get made first but once that's out the way I should be in a position to have a closer look at what's out there and see how far my budget will go.
Best regards
Stephen

Jazz is pretty well known and well regarded ..
Whatever You buy from him will work and be a very good compromise for 10x less money than the big names in the field.
Imho.
I´m not his friend or whatever.
And 95% of his advice I agree with, with 20% of style being less than optimal.

A 10x5 "light-industrial" machine with full auto toolchanger, that I think is absolutely mandatory, will run around 15-20k.
I think.
Toolchanger and "industrial" add about 5k to the ticket.
But they also make the output about 3x, often above 500 - 1000 - 2000 € per day in cuts in production.

The Haas GRS used to cost about 70k€ and up.

One can get a light-semi-cnc without a toolchanger and sensors and probing and io and robust controller for about 5-7k.
From jazz.
For lots of jobs and use it can be an excellent option.

Would be closer to the lower end, more like 12-15K.

More like +10K to step it up to the Industrial level.

Not a 10 x 5 or 8 x 4 from me they can't.!!

Only if it's British racing green, I'll have none of that green foreign rubbish on my machines..:hysterical:

Hi Jazzcnc, I am new to this forum stuff but I have noticed that you make CNC machines, could I get some more info as I am looking to get a machine that has a 1mx1m working area, I am mainly looking to cut resin and wood but will most likely end up cutting a lot of different things.

Hi,
I can't contact you through private message yet as you haven't been around long enough so haven't posted enough yet. You need to make about 10 posts I think before Admin allows it. So if you make more posts then eventually I will be able to send you my details. I won't post them on a public forum because I'll have some wack job ringing me in the middle of the night but I'll happily give you my numbers and email.

Here are a few questions so you can boost your post's. Answering them one post at a time will speed things up.

Why 1m x 1m.?
It's more common to work in sheet sizes or some division of a full sheet. ie: The nearest to 1m x 1m would be 1250 x 1250 or 1300 x 1300.

What's the thickest material or longest cutter you'll mostly want to use.?

Bench mounted or free-standing.?

I just made a video and discovered I sound a bit like that David Attenborough bloke on telly, perhaps I could have a budding new career doing voice overs?
