Hi

I have been using HSS parting tools but need a tool with a smaller tip width (2mm) for parting off (tubes mainly) but also some simple grooving. (I don't need to do any profiling with it.)
However I am limited on the travel of my ATC and therefore need a tool with as short a head length as possible; ideally 30mm. I have an external position in the ATC that can accommodate a 8mm square shank and was looking at the following but these are slightly too long (35mm and 37mm respectively.):
Might anyone be able to suggest some alternatives they are using?

The 8mm shank greatly limits your options. 12mm is where options start to noticeably increase.

MGxx holders have to be that long for the clamp to work.

GTN holders have shorter heads, but the smallest shank I can find is 10mm - https://www.shop-apt.co.uk/part-off-tools-blades-gtn-style-canela/xlcfr-1010-j02-part-off-tool-for-ptnt-20-gtn-2-parting-inserts-right-hand-10x10mm-shank.html
Non-carbide holders can however be machined down pretty easily with a suitable cutter.

I'm using an APT tool from this series
https://www.shop-apt.co.uk/external-grooving-tools-for-wdn-inserts-apt.html
with an insert for grooving, parting and profiling Stainless and difficult materials, so far the first edge has grooved, profiled and parted off around 250 Titanium 6AlV4 parts
