Hi!

I got some closed loop nema 23 steppers (3x 3N and 1x2.2N), with drivers and I'm not 100% sure wich PSU choose.

This ones:

https://es.aliexpress.com/item/33056515599.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.584063c0ZzR VQU

Drivers are rated Vdc 24V-80V. The seller told me they use 24/36V 360W for two motors but reading the forum seems like using the higher voltage is better.

So I was thinking to buy 2x 70V 400W. This ones:

https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005001444884772.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.4f083c006 H6V4p&mp=1

Any recomendations? Thanks!

For 2 steppers I'd go 72V 500w per pair. But that's just me. Well, if it's only using 50%-70% it'll likely never fail on you :)

I run 60V on a basic open loop but have a 350w on each. Been working for years on my 25 size mill.
I've ordered a 60V 720w single unit now to save space in my new control box and I'm upping to a 72V 400w for my Z motor for an extra boost.

The 60V 350w ones will prob move to my sieg x2 rebuild at a later date. There's 36v on that machine atm and it's crap!!!!.

Personally I would use a toroidal with 3 caps and a rectifier this much better than a switch mode supply.

25-25 secondary in series will give about 68v DC when rectified.

Edit: 500 or 625Va would be more than enough for the toroidal.

What Clive said.
That's if you're confident and competent.
I'm not so, otherwise I'd have everything on a 1kw 70v unit :(
