New to the forum, came here because everything else seems US based and not always the best place for advice.
I run a 3040 cnc ballscrew version and use it to make parts for model ships.

Now I have just run into what could be best described as a bad issue..

I have a damgaged Z axis ballscrew that needs replaces (endstop switch failed.. Broken wire)

Now I;m having issues find a UK supplier of 150mm SFU1204 12mm Ballscrew. I mean no where can I find one.. ?

I know the UK no has issues with the brexit situation but heck ,, Im at a loss..
anyone know who would have one ?

eBay was looking at them myself just last night, longer than you need but on that length of screw you can get away with not supporting the floating end...simply lop it off where you need it.

I presume that you would also need a thread and a reduction for your coupling, if you can provide details, I have a lathe

Hi
Is there no thread involved,is 145mm the thread length or the O/A length. Will the nut fit, my nut is 35mm O/A, the flange is 8mm thk x 40 dia. x 30mm A/F, the body is 22mm dia. the nuts/screws are not allways interchangeable

overall length is 145mm 8mm at the lower section to fit the bearing, the top section is also 8mm and 20mm long,
the flange is square 8mm thick ( I have posted photos)
the body is 22mm dia.
the nut is 36mm long

Nut would appear to be similar apart from the radiused sides, is there room for this . What is the damage to the screw, can't see any in the pics

NO switches are not fail safe, I never use them as limits or in ES positions

Yes there is room for the radiused sides, and the damage was to the plastic part holing the bearings in place. I have tried without success to repack the bearings but even with carefull assembly its got very tight spots.. and the plastic sleeves on the lower part are damaged..

Yes I understand my switches wer'nt fail safe and seems my soft limits didnt help.. As far as Im aware I think one of my sons had been using the machine or maybe from a broken wire on the switch ( not set up diffrently) ? An in my error I didnt check things before I used it (rush job) :(

Can I suggest something?
Wire your safety circuits as Normally Closed. If a wire breaks the switch will go open and shut it down.
Food for thought.
