Hello

It has been a couple of years since I built my lathe and mill, and have picked up another lathe recently to convert. A lot seems to have changed in that time with what is available when it comes to breakout boards. I can't find anything available in the UK except the cheap generic Chinese cards. Have things moved on and changed in the time since I built mine?

I'm looking to run a 9Nm and 4.6Nm stepper with drivers. What is the best option available now? Have cheap Chinese cards become that good and reliable? I'm happy to spend £300-500, the issue is I can't get hold of anything that seems to be recommended either because it's out of stock or it's a pain to import it.

I recently replaced the BoB on my lathe with one of these driven by a uc100. Works fine.

Apologies for thread hijack, but perhaps John, or anyone using this ubiquitous board, can clear up a confusion with pins on the above board which I am in the process of installing.
If you look at the pictures of this board you will see that on the back of the board P14 is shown right in the corner and P2 is shown two in from that.
If you look at the instructions photo it shows P2 right in the corner and P14 two in.
Which is correct?

Oops! Apologies I inserted the wrong link, the one I'm using has only one relay:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fasizi-Breakout-optical-coupler-Stepper/dp/B09Z29TYNL/

I don't use the relay anyway.

I see what you mean about the pin confusion The back of the board is more likely to be correct since it shows the PCB legend. Someone has got confused labelling the photo of the front.

If you intend to use the relays not that I don't think they are rated for UK mains voltage - I did need a relay function so use a separate solid-state relay instead.
