I use Fusion 360. I only have the free version as I dont use it for business .

I have a mesh stl model which has lots of triangle's and lines. I have used freecad, meshlab and free version of fusion and I still cannot get it completely converted to a solid. Its not a complicated part.

Looking for someone to convert it for me retaining its dimensions and surface properties please.

#dudz - I can't reply to the original post, as I don't have permission. Perhaps you need to post to a different area?

I may be able to help but not by replying to the OP thread.

You can't post replys in the RFQ board.

I was going to reply last night mentioning that Mesh to solid isn't usually that doable, and it's often far easier to just to recreate the model, but it does depend on what you're trying to acheive.

Turning meshes, stp iges etc files into editable solids never seems to go well. The main issues I've encountered were due to holes or discontinuities in the surface. I think Fusion has got better at this in recent years but as m_c says, you often end up realising you would have been better off recreating a proper parametric model.

Very similar conclusion when it comes to 3D scanned bodies. Although they have their place, you end up with large, unwieldy models that are riddled with holes and take a lot of work to clean up if you imagine you are going to be able to do anything useful with them in CAD.

Shall I move/merge his thread over there into this one ?

I've sent dudz a message to confirm and let him know etc...

Might as well consolidate them although things have gone quiet!
