Hello again,
Does anyone have any experience of converting a "Chester Tools Champion 16V " milling machine to cnc ?
If so I'd love to hear from you.
Many thanks,
Nick

AH GOOD !
Nice to hear from you John ! And so fast too !
Whats the hastle with the X axis ?
I anticipated the problem would be with the Y axis ( fore and aft )
What size Steppers did you use ? I think 6Nm for the Z axis and 4Nm for the X and Y ?
I'm thinking of using routout cnc's 10A kit, and a new 16v, and 16mm ballscrews from Zapp so I estimate the cost at about £1500 all up does that sound right to you ?
Do 16mm ballscrews and nuts fit ?
Any thoughts or pictures ( even better ) much appreciated
I could just convert my Centec 2B wich is gathering dust in a corner but I thought I'd start from scratch !!
Any help much appreciated
Nick

Oh I also meant to ask, is the 16V rigid and powerful enough to machine steel components or is it restricted to light alloy and brass ?
Thanks Nick
