Hi All..
Just my luck, managed to scrape a few quid together as I saw a deal on ebay for a set of 16 v bearings for about £80 quid.. Just jumped on ebay, raring to go, and the listing is not there!!
Did anyone see it or even 'watching' it on their ebay account? The listing may appear again soon, but maybe not..

Did you mean these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/V-Groove-CNC-Router-Vee-Linear-Guide-Bearings-x-16-/260592234376?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cac81ef88
Looks like you were a few days to late...
May be worth contacting them as he does say any qty available in the description.

Hi Hiltonsteve..
You are a lifesaver.. Thanks!!!!

i bought four of those bearings from same seller
used them on my gantry , ended up bin ing them , before you buy them ask the seller for a data sheet because i dont think they are double row bearings.
there is sideways freeplay in them no matter how much you preload them.
i tried to find them online using the number on the bearing to no avail
the only others i could find are these ones at euro bearings £20 each

i gave up and bought 16mm full supported rail , far superior

Hi Jonm..
As my old man used to say, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!! Thanks for the tip, will steer clear of that one..
I have found some vee double row bearings for £12 each, but will stick with my heath-robinson setup for now, supported rail is the way to go, just gotta start saving again..
Where and how much did you pay for your supported rails?
Steve..

bought the supported rails here, zapp automation http://www.slidesandballscrews.com/index.php (http://www.slidesandballscrews.com/index.php)
two 800mm lenghts and 4 bearings tbr16 £98 delivered , this was for the y axis
i have 1200mm lenghts and 4 bearings on the x axis
also bought steppers and the drivers from same
i started building about a year ago and with hindsight i would have build from the solsylva plans http://www.solsylva.com/
i think in a short time you could get a resonably accurate cutting router for very little outlay
the most expensive parts are the steppers and drivers, linear rails are cheap skate bearings
if you look in the gallery on the main page there are examples of machines
and cuts

Hi jonm..
managed to get hold of the ebay seller.. You were right, those were single row bearings, although the other ones he sells are double row @ £7.65 each.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260615872743&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Think I might try these as they are certainly the cheapest I have come across..
Steve..
steve
those look the business, he must have just aquired them , might get four
myself as they would make a nice light z axis , i am using skate bearings on a welded steel frame just now works fine just a bit heavy
cheers john

Hi Jonm..
Bought 4 too! They seem really good, especially at that price! Had a quick email chat with him and he is willing to do a deal on 16 bearings so a haggle is worth the effort..
Have mounted mine on my z axis too, run very well..
