Hello all,
I am selling all of my CNC equipment, and I'm starting with my control box. See pics attached.

Inside the box:
Galil Motion Controller card (PCI DMC 18x4 - thats the 4 axis version) compatible with Mach 3. Card comes with 1m cable and opto isolated break out box.
see http://www.galilmc.com/products/dmc-18x2.php for more details. I bought this card because I was fed up with the drop outs I was getting with my Smooth Stepper, and have found it to be flawless.

Mini ITX motherboard with Atom processor (Asus AT3N7A).
2GB DDR ram
2 x 32GB 10,000rpm SATA Raptor Hard Drivers by Western Digital
Integrated graphics (it is DirectX 10 so will handle CAD programs no bother).

2 x PS407 Power supplies by Motion Control Products
4 x MSD 542 Stepper Drivers also by Motion Control Products

CD /DVD burner and floppy disk drive.
Motherboard PSU (sorry I don't remember the exact specs)
Windows Professional (genuine copy - the serial number and sticker is on the case)

Everything is housed in a very nice Coolermaster aluminium E-ATX server case.

Steppers motors connect via a nice panel at the back with 4 pins plugs.

I estimated the contents of the case would cost around £3,000 new... so please serious offers only please :). Any questions please ask.
Dave.

Well I didn't go to school much.. .:joker:.

Some people have trouble with the smooth stepper locking up on or dropping the signal causing Mach to lock up. Often this is caused by poor grounding but there is a slight flaw in the SS design in that it's sensitive to electrical noise. So if poor grounding in control box or very noisey elctrical components near by they interfere and can in some case's lock the SS.

Personally I only had a one slight issue with this and that was caused by a very noisy compressor switch. Since then I've altered the shielding on the USB cable and I don't get any dropouts or lockups, even on jobs taking 12+ hours.

Hello everyone,
Not sure if I want to break it up, but I'll let anyone who has shown interest in parts know if I do.

Re. The Smooth Stepper - I did some research at the time and I don't remember the grounding being mentioned as a potential problem... Wish I'd kept hold of it now! Ah well.

Dave.
